Anyone who resists makes a choice

This is also the theme of a poem written in 1963 by Remco Campert, the son of poet and resistance activist Jan Campert who died in concentration camp Neuengamme in 1943. The permanent exhibition begins with a quote from this poem entitled "Iemand stelt een vraag" (‘Someone asks the question’):

Asking yourself a question
that's how resistance begins

At the end of the exhibition, where a link is made between World War Two and the present, the poem is quoted again:

Asking yourself a question
that's how resistance begins
And then ask that very question
Of someone else
